Gigondas the Cellar
History
Cooperative winery created in 1955-1956 in Gigondas, in the wake of the 1956 frost that ravaged many olive groves in Provence and gave a large place to the vine on the slopes at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail. Jean-Louis Alexandre was one of the founding winemakers and first president of the cooperative.
Cooperative winery of Gigondas (Vaucluse), a collective now composed of 76 winemakers engaged in the winemaking and marketing of wines from the Rhone Valley (Gigondas, Côtes du Rhône), based on values of transmission, solidarity and collective commitment.
The Vineyard
Clay-limestone terroir on the southern slope of the Dentelles de Montmirail. The cooperating winegrowers have been accompanied for fifteen years by technicians for rational viticulture and sustainable farming practices.
